About
Teaching: I teach primarily astronomy and physical science courses, with the occasional physics class thrown in. I am also part of the Liberal Studies department, in addition to my primary duties in Physics department.
Research: I am actively researching extrasolar planets. I am part of a team of astronomers that has been searching (successfully!) for planets orbiting nearby red giant stars. I also have an ongoing project at the Cal Poly Observatory looking at planet transits to characterize the planets and their orbits. This on-campus project is entirely done by students.
Personal: I grew up north of Seattle, WA, a terrible place for astronomy. I lived in Washington, DC, and San Diego before moving here to SLO. I enjoy soccer, hiking, music, and playing with my daughter.
