California-Nevada APS 2012--Travel

Welcome to Cal Poly

Here's the information you'll need to get started on planning your visit. Print out a copy of our campus map. Cal Poly's main campus core is set on a hill so bring your walking shoes.  If you want to explore campus on your own, you can find a Cal Poly tour app for your iPhone or iPod.

How to Get Here:  maps/directions

Parking is free on the weekends in general use lots.  Parking passes for Friday, November 2 may be purchased at the kiosk near the Grand Avenue entrance to the Cal Poly campus.  Parking is $6 per day.  The Holiday Inn Express is 1 mile from Cal Poly on Grand Avenue.  If the weather is clear, consider walking on Friday to avoid the parking fee.

The City of San Luis Obispo

Cal Poly's location in San Luis Obispo makes it a great place to visit. It's a quintessential coastal California town with some 43,000 residents. Located halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles and just minutes from beaches, state parks, landmarks and premium wine regions, it's also a popular vacation spot. The city of San Luis Obispo offers a historic, restored downtown full of restaurants, theatres, art galleries and shops centered around San Luis Obispo Creek, Mission San Luis Obispo and Mission Plaza.

Central Coast Beaches & Wine Country

San Luis Obispo is just minutes from some of California's best beaches and original beach cities: Avila Beach (10 miles), Pismo Beach (12 miles), Morro Bay (17 miles), Montaña de Oro State Park (18 miles), Cayucos (18 miles), the Pismo Dunes (28 miles) and world-famous Hearst Castle ( 45 miles).

San Luis Obispo is nestled between two premiere wine regions: Paso Robles and the Edna Valley. Both are key to Cal Poly's thriving Wine and Viticulture degree program.
